As a result of Public Chapter 159, changes have been made to the fees charged for electric and hybrid vehicles. The extra fees charged upon registration of all-electric vehicles, as well as hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, will be removed. However, renewal fees for these vehicles will be increased. All-electric vehicles will have an additional $200.00 added to their renewal fee, and hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles will have an additional $100.00 added to their renewal fee. Public Chapter 159 becomes effective January 1, 2024.
